Contrary to popular opinion, those of us living the entrepreneurial life are not driven exclusively by profits and financial wealth. It’s freedom, and the choices it brings in life, that is at the heart of entrepreneurial ambition.

Everyone has a different idea of success, but ultimately there can’t be a better description than having the freedom to make choices that continually improve those aspects of your personal and professional life that are important to you.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t match up to day to day reality for most entrepreneurs. There’s little freedom and plenty of struggle, financial struggle, personal struggle, all the challenges that come with running a business effectively.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Some of that struggle is necessary. It builds entrepreneurial character. Business success is not an overnight achievement. But much of the struggle is unnecessary because it’s self-inflicted. Like thousands of business owners every year, I had to see my business fail miserably before learning that lesson. You don’t have to.

But you will have to be willing to do things differently to how 99% of business owners operate. And that means being willing to think differently.

Your business, and the quality of life it supports, can only reflect the quality of your thinking. In ever aspect of your life, from your health to your profits, the common denominator in it all is you.

How you think into your business and your life will determine you’re the level of success you accomplish.

Very few business owners understand that, and even less do anything about it. The statistics speak for themselves; only 1% of business owners are millionaires.

Your entrepreneurial reality does not have to be a million miles away from your entrepreneurial dream. Becoming a highly successful entrepreneur takes more than just hard work, which is why so few achieve it, but it isn’t as difficult as most business owners think.

As Jim Rohn, one of the most successful entrepreneurs of his generation said ‘formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune’.

The self-help books are only half-right when they you can have anything you want. The truth is you CAN have anything you want – if you’re willing to pay the price. Most aren’t. Don’t be one of them.
