In my last post (Part 1) I discussed sovereignty in business – a philosophy which flies in the face of conventional “wisdom” when it comes to running a business.

Established norms stipulate it makes sound commercial sense to do business with any willing party who can stump up the cash to pay for your product or service. In this four-part series of articles, I put it to you this well-ingrained social imprint makes everything but sense.

Your business is your empire, your kingdom, and you define the rules. You dedicated a substantial percentage of your life to your business and career. It should be fun as well as profitable.

Sadly, plenty of businesses are constructed to be neither of those… and many-a-profitable business is nothing short of hell for its owner, consuming the very life it’s meant to liberate, with the worst kind of clients who suck the life out of the business and owner alike.

By way of a reminder, sovereignty is doing business with whom you want, when you want, at the price you want, if –  and only if – you choose to do business at all.

It’s not just about setting the boundaries in your business and educating your clients accordingly, it’s about living them.

It’s about being in touch – at a deep level – with the value you bring to market and the individuals/organisations within it, and understanding, as a consequence…

that it’s a great privilege to do business with you.

Don’t ever lose sight of that truth.

Sovereignty takes courage. To uphold it as a principle in your life isn’t always easy. Saying no to a potential client who doesn’t fit isn’t difficult (although such an act would seem absurd to plenty of business owners who chase cash without thinking into longer term consequences and profitability), but it’s not easy to sack the client you’ve been working with for some time and genuinely care about.

I know. I’ve done both. And as much as it goes against “conventional wisdom” I can promise you this: the reward for such robust stewardship of your business in the medium to long term far outweighs the short-term revenue sacrifice.

In Part one of this series on Sovereignty and The 7 Mindsets I Won’t Work With I shared the first of those 7: The Deeply Indoctrinated Religious Mind.

The second?

The Mind Not Willing To Invest In Itself

The world is rich with freeloaders – people who grab every bit of free information they can, but are never willing to back themselves by investing time, money and energy and do what’s necessary to improve their lives.

I can assure you of this: I believe in people more often than they believe in themselves; that’s evidenced by the impact of my work – I just can’t help the person who isn’t willing to back himself.

No one can.

And I’m not interested in those who ask for other people to back them before they’re willing to back themselves.

Ironically, the Coaching profession is rife with this kind of mentality. You couldn’t make it up if you tried. So many of the very prophesiers of personal growth do not embrace the very consciousness raising experiences they expect their potential clients to embrace with them.

The epitome of the blind leading the blind. How ironic is its that of all the professions which insist on Continuous Personal & Professional Development – law, accountancy and architecture for example – to continue to practise, the unregulated wild west of the Coaching profession has no such requirement.

No such abdication of personal and professional responsibility occurs at the Conscious Coaching Academy™. The hard won accreditation makes you an Elite Influencer in the Coaching profession, CCA’s CPPD keeps you there.

The primal responsibility – and qualification – of anyone claiming to be a Coach is an unwavering commitment to the raising of his or her own consciousness.

More on that in another message.

It doesn’t end with Coaches.

Very few business owners and entrepreneurs (two very different animals) in all other sectors understand their business – and the quality of life it sponsors – can never outgrow the quality of thinking you’re bringing to them.

In our lives, and in our businesses, we all tread a thin line between being its greatest asset and its greatest liability. Sadly, most fall firmly in the latter equation.

Bottom line?

No matter who you are, and not matter what your walk of life, if you’re not willing to back yourself, don’t expect life, or anyone else for that matter, to do for you what you’re not willing to do for yourself.

If you’re not willing to invest in your greatest asset – you and the mind which is forever calling forth your life experience (whether you’re conscious in the act or not) don’t expect life to show up better if you’re not willing to show up better.

After all, life brings to you what you bring to life.

Coach, business owner or entrepreneur, I’m only interested in working with the individual who is awake enough between the ears to know themselves as the cause of all their effects, and is willing to do whatever it takes to make the success of their aspirations – and more – a reality in their lives…

If you’re of that ilk, make no mistake; you are in the right place, with the right individual, at the right time…

… and you will be rewarded exponentially.

To be continued in Part 3…

Warmly,

Christian
