So here I am, the “naked” writer.
I’ll begin by putting your mind at ease.
You’ll be delighted to know the title of this blog, or the vlog and podcast mirroring it, is not one literal in its meaning.
Any unkind and unwelcome imagery conjured up on the screen of your mind can be dispensed with: I’m not sitting here, starkers, as I tap out these words. At least not in the physical sense.
I am, however, sitting here naked in every other sense, in that, as those who’ve read my daily email broadcasts for years, worked with me or know me personally will testify, I’m as open and transparent as it gets.
I’ve never felt the need to be inhibited in revealing deeply personal matters. It’s all part of growth. There’s rich lessons to be had in the darkest or most idiotic of moments.
This “warts ‘n’ all” kind of transparency has, at times, made some people uncomfortable. I understand. If you’re not comfortable in your own skin, such transparency can be confronting.
“To thine own self be true,” Shakespeare said. To live any differently seems absurd to me. I don’t have the energy to try and be something I’m not – and the days where I concern myself with what others think of me is long, long gone.
Arrogance?
To the hard-of-thinking, no doubt. To the remaining, merely the output of a good degree of self-knowledge.
I’m still a work-in-progress on that front. Always will be. And who isn’t? Only those who need it most don’t know they are. All I do know is the more aware I become, the more conscious I am of the extent of my ignorance.
And as you’ll also know if you’re a regular reader, I use ignorance – both my own and that of others – to do the educating.
After all, there’s no better educator in life if the lids of the inner eye of awakening are even flickering open.
And if I can play my part in helping you widen yours – to whatever degree – it’ll make all this worthwhile… because that’s the name of my game…
… helping this unconscious species of our awaken to the tyranny of its own ignorance.
Which brings me nicely to what you’ll witness in these warblings: I use ignorance – both my own and that of others – to do the educating in bringing higher consciousness to matters of:
- Personal growth
- Transformative Coaching ability
- And entrepreneurial success
By my fruits you shall know me
Which brings me full circle to the nature of my nakedness – the kind which makes for raw, frank, direct and uncompromising conversations about the unvarnished truth – not just about my profession and all going on within it, but about the ultimate cause and effect relationship between our experience in life, and what determines it… our consciousness and the quality of thinking it produces.
So expect conversations which are long overdue bringing to the public domain…
… conversations which are unapologetically both contrarian and controversial conversations which will be confronting to many and comforting to others…
… conversations which may, at times unnerve, disturb and push buttons, all in the name of growth…
… conversations which have made me deeply unpopular in some quarters… yet greatly appreciated in others…
… conversations which not only directly concern and impact everyone in the Coaching profession and those looking to bring their careers to it…
… but also every individual who is living a conscious enough existence to seek to better themselves in order to live far more successfully at a personal and professional level.
As a highly conscious teacher once said when referencing the ultimate cause and effect relationship of life in terms of how our consciousness reveals itself in the results we produce in every aspect of life…
… “by their fruits you shall know them”… and by these fruits you shall know me – warts ‘n’ all.
