Some time ago, I posed a question to coaches in my community.

I asked, “If you had a $100,000 problem, and someone offered a $5000 solution, would you take it?”

Even I was stunned by what came back.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been in this business long enough to know how most coaches are poor business owners.

That’s not the problem. We’re all poor business owners initially. I certainly was. I took my first Coaching business from ÂŁ350k to liquidation in six months.

No, the problem with most coaches is they choose to stay that way.

Their business is struggling. They’re just getting by. At best they plod on in a perpetual feast-to-famine existence, with a business they have no idea how to scale.

Understandably, they long for a business bringing more income making a far greater impact.

They want a business requiring less hassle, less hustle and far less stress. One which attracts more clients of far better quality. The kind who are willing to pay far higher fees.

They want to be in-demand – to be the highly sought after, go-to-authority – recognised, respected and revered in the eyes of the market they serve.

They want prominence, to stand out from the underachieving, indistinguishable-from-one-another crowd.

And they get exactly what they ask for: the wanting of those outcomes – not the experience of them.

All because they refuse to accept what their results are telling them, and refuse to change as a consequence.

The so-called “change agent” who refuses to change.

Worse still, they continue to do more of the activities which are already proving fruitless.

Just look at LinkedIn. You’ll find a raft of struggling and/or broke coaches on the newsfeed every day, posting ever-increasing amounts of videos, content and quotes, week-in, week out.

And despite it rarely, if ever, conjuring up any business of any worth…

… they do more of it. They continue to put more time and effort into activities of no, little or marginal returns… and despite what their results are screaming at them, they persist.

That question I asked?

The “if you had a $100,000 problem, and someone offered a $5000 solution, would you take it?” question?

A substantial amount replied “no”, or “depends”.

It beggars’s belief.

It also exposes the root cause of their problem: the fundamentally flawed thinking they bring to their business and the crippling belief systems sponsoring it.

“By their fruits you shall know them”.

93% of this profession do have a $100,000 problem given their business doesn’t generate anywhere near that figure.

Plenty of the 93% are reading these words now.

I dunno, Christian, maybe I’m the one with the screw loose. 

You see, if I had a $100,000 problem, and someone offered me a $50,000 solution, I’d snap the bugger’s hand off for it.

Because, rather obviously, I’d be fifty grand the better… and as I only pay the $50k once, I’d be $100k better off from there onwards.

And that’s before taking the compound effect into consideration.

In fact, years ago, when I did have a ÂŁ100,000 (British pounds not dollars) problem, I sold the roof over my head to put ÂŁ25,000 of the ÂŁ30,000 profit in the hands of someone who had the solution.

At the time I had no income. That ÂŁ25k would have taken the heat off for a while.

But I knew, if I didn’t get the solution I needed – to educate myself out of the ignorance which had cost me my business…

… I’d repeat the same old process over and over…

… and perpetuate my misery.

Three-and half years later my business went over a million for the first time.

If I can go from broke to 7-figures in less than four years, so can every other coach who is willing to do what I did.

And therein lies the problem. They’re not.

I can’t help the coach who isn’t willing to listen.

I can’t help the so-called “change agent” who isn’t willing to change.

I can’t help the coach who isn’t willing to draw from the experience of someone who’s been an outright failure and recovered to enjoy a level of success very few reach.

I can’t help the individual who claims to be able to help others overcome the crippling challenges limiting their lives…

… yet isn’t willing to overcome the crippling challenges limiting their own.

And I can’t help the individual reading this message who, despite what their business results tell them…

… thinks this message applies to everyone else.

I can – and will – help the opposite. 

I can – and will – help the Coach who has the maturity to recognise themselves in all or some of the above…

… and has the courage and conviction to put an end to it – now.

If you’re genuinely of that ilk… and you’re not of the kind I can’t help (or you have been but the penny’s now dropped), such as:

  • The wannabe with big ideas, hollow promises and shallow commitment levels.
  • The perpetual freeloader who jumps on any free offer or any free-to-access event to find the cure for his ills – yet isn’t willing to administer any potential cure even if he finds it.
  • The individual who forever blames empty pockets as the reason for being stuck, blind to the fact (or conveniently choosing to ignore it) that their empty pockets are EFFECTS not causes.
